Veteran's Day, November 11, 2011
Ninety-three years ago, at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 1918, fighting ceased which put an end to "the war to end all wars". This was the results of an armistice being declared between Germany and the Allied nations to end World War I.
However, it was not the war to end all wars. In those ninety-three years since, the United States has been involved in at least thirteen other wars or conflicts, with over 32.8 million of our young people serving in the military for their country. During that same period, over 510,000 of our young men & women have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy our life in freedom.
I want to join thousands of others on this day to say thanks to all those that have served, fought, and died for the freedoms we enjoy today. Our very way of life depends on those that love this great nation and are willing to sacrifice for it. As a young man I did not realize everything that military service meant, but today, many years later, I am glad and proud to stand by so many Veterans and pray that God would bless America!
Each time I go to a VA Hospital I am reminded of the price some have paid. I see those struggling with artificial limbs and so many other problems that are worn as badges of courage and testimonies of love and dedication to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. I see the old men wearing their hats, vests, and pins, weathered from the years, but still proud and strong in spirit. I feel a bond that grows stronger as those years began to pass by so quickly. The names of many may be soon forgotten, but their part in our liberty must always be remembered.
There may be a lot of things that are wrong in this land, but the spirit and courage and service of our veterans is there to remind us that there is still a lot that is right. May this day be the kind of day it was intended to be, a day of respect and gratitude.
Thank You for visiting this site. If we can be of help in any way, please do not hesitate to ask. Much Blessings on you and yours, Dr. Joseph A.Carson Northland Baptist Ministries
