ACCEPTED BY HIM

2 Corinthians 5:1-11

Do the burdens of life ever get you down; do they sometimes seem to overwhelm you?
Does it affect your service for God?
Does it sometimes make you feel like giving up?
If ever there was a man who had a right to feel that way it was the apostle Paul.
And what the Holy spirit of God directed him to write is very beneficial for us.

I.                   ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED FOR SALVATION  (Ephesians 1:6)
A.     Grace makes us accepted
There will be three things which will surprise us when we get to heaven;
1.      to find many there that we did not expect to find there;
2.      another, to find some not there whom we had expected;
3.      a third, and perhaps the greatest wonder, will be to find ourselves there.

B.      While still sinners – God loved us  (Romans 5:6)
God loves the sinner BUT hates the sin.
While still sinners he accepted us, saved us, and makes us His own

C.      Accepted, just as we are, to be conformed into His image by Him; by the Holy Spirit
Worldly idea – He will accept me just as I am & that’s the way I’m going to stay.
You can come just as you are and stay just as you were.

II.               ACCEPTED BY HIM IN OUR ACTIONS

A.        Our Desire  (2 Cor. 5:9)
As the earth revolves around the sun, so should our lives also revolve around the Son.

B.        Our Pattern  (Matt. 3:13-17)

C.        Our Place   (2 Cor. 5:1-8)
1.  Earthly house   [tent]  (we are campers, we’re on bivouac, this is just one big RV part)
a.                  dust to dust  --  dissolved   v.  1
b.                  full of sorrows  --  groan, burdened   v. 4  (campers, but not happy campers)
c.                   absent from the Lord

IT’S TEMPORAL

                        The body breaks down:        shingles come off the top—Lights dim
                                                                        Walls bulge—Foundation crumbles
                    2.  Eternal house
                        a.         A building of God . . .     v.  1
b.                  Our earthly desire is our eternal home   v.  2
c.                   A building of God;  built by God   (John 14: 1, 2-4)
d.                  Absent from body

IT’S PERMANENT

D.        Our Ambition   (2 Cor. 5:9,10)
1.      Accepted/approved by him  v. 9
a.      As a wise steward  (Matt. 25:21)
b.      Fear of being unwise  (Matt, 25:26)
c.       Our “labor” v. 9  = To esteem as an honor: same word as “study” in 1 Thess 4:11

The way we live our lives needs to be ambitious for his approval

The account we must give:
2.      Appearance before Him  v. 10
The review of our life’s works
A review of thing done – good or bad!
                       Believers can do bad things

Every part of life is open for examination:  home,   school,   work,   church, business meetings,    Ladies & Men’s fellowships,  Private life & Public life.
