ANTS
Proverbs 6:6-11

THE WISDOM OF AN ANT
Introduction:  Ants are the uninvited guests at every picnic.
They don't even bring any food with them to share with you. An ant can carry many times his size for long distance. His or her chief concern is for the colony. They are not trying for popular contests. It is all about the colony. This is a good lesson for church members. God has placed us together as a church. It should not be a place of who is the most popular. Yes, God has placed me as a pastor but this does not entitle me to be treated as royalty. I thank the Lord for your kindness you have showed my wife and I these past years.  God has placed us here as a partnership. The work of the church is TEAMWORK.

An ant's work is productive. We should try to be productive for the Lord Jesus. It is my prayer and desire that you grow in Christ. Our youth are not the future of the church. They are as much a part of this church as the adults are.  Many events would not get done with them. Some of them help visit folks and pass out tracts. That is productive. It will not be hard for them to serve the Lord when they get older because they have already started doing it. I started out trying to serve the Lord in church even before I was saved but since that day I want to be involved. A few weeks after I was saved, I was asked to take up the offering. Then later my pastor taught me to lead music. I went on soul winning visitation four days after I was saved.  Don't think that just because you are an adult that makes you far superior to our young people. Some of the youth have more spirituality than some of the adults of the church. When it is time for church, they are not looking for excuses why they are not going to come. They are excited about church.  Ants work according to their ability. God has given every saved person an ability. You are sinning against God by not doing your God given ability.  Well, I have said enough about the work of an ant. Let's look at the wisdom of an ant.

THEY MAKE PROVISIONS FOR THIS LIFE.
They are very organized with food and shelter. Many anthills are organized like a modern city. There are streets, supply rooms, hatcheries, and barracks. People should be wise also and prepare for today.  Some times I think that I organize things in such a way the Spirit of God could not change it. I remember one time in a service we had on a Sunday night that I asked for testimonies. Some things happen that I still rejoice over. People jumped up and starting telling how good the Lord was to them. This went on for almost an hour. I did not preach that night. I was afraid to mess the dealing of God with folks.  I do have Bible for how I do services. The songs are picked after praying about what I am preaching for those services. I have marveled how some of the songs fit so good with the messages and I did not realize it until we were singing. We have a Biblical command to be this way. 1st Corinthians 14:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order."  No parts of our church services are done by accident. One of my teachers in Bible College used to say, "Fail to plan then plan to fail."  Before we were saved we were walking without Jesus. No wonder our lives are in the mess they are. But now we can let others know that we can live like David.  Psalm 23:1 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Many times when we come to passages that we read over and over again we tend to go through them quickly. We do not look for something new. My pastor,  in his daily devotions came to this classic passage. He was ready to move on. Then the Word of God spoke to him. The first two words "The LORD" reveals person. The next word "is" shows us that this is present state of the believer. Then we come to that little word "my" that shows who the Lord is in our lives. Last of all the word "shepherd" reveals that relation that our Lord has with us. A shepherd protects, guides and feeds his sheep.  We don’t need many of the things we think we need. Our greatest need outside of the salvation, from the Lord, is for a close, Spirit-filled walk
with God. We need Him and what He can give us more than anything this world might offer us. We need what we can only get from the Word of God, from prayer and from communion with the Spirit of God.
Conclusion: Every day we need to prepare ourselves for the future as a believer. You will go no further in your Christian life than you know your Bible. I know I repeat that concept over and over again but it is
true. You will go no further in your Christian life than you know your Bible. Each day you prepare yourself for the day ahead.
